Letter from Steve

Dear F.A.S.T. teachers, tutors, parents and students,

Welcome to an exciting year for F.A.S.T. Learning!

F.A.S.T. has recently received very favorable media attention in Michigan. It has been recognized as an innovative reading program, that offers positive results not only for the struggling reader, but for all emerging readers.

An important new book has been published: Proust and the Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain by Maryanne Wolf. This excellent book describes the evolution of reading, how the brain accomplishes the unlikely feat of reading, and why reading presents great difficulties for some people. The neurological explanations of the reading process affirm the premises on which F.A.S.T. Reading is built. This book is highly recommended.

F.A.S.T. Reading is currently developing new products that will support you in the instruction of F.A.S.T. The second level of Spelling has been published; and the third level Speller is almost complete. Teacher-friendly grade level manuals are being created as well as a comprehension CD and Teacher Guide for Tales of Mystery. A DVD explaining the 25 concepts in less than one hour has been produced; an audio CD version is also available. Other DVDs describing comprehension, fluency, and handwriting have also been made.

We wish you a wonderful beginning to 2008. Please stay in touch; we enjoy your feedback! If you would like further information about new products, please contact Matt Cale at 800-325-3278.
