“Every year I have some students who decode words well enough, but don’t seem to understand what they read. I tried lots of things before, but with F.A.S.T. Reading: Comprehension I am finally getting the results I hoped for. Now all my students understand their assessments. They can answer comprehension questions, they enjoy reading more, and they do better on tests in all their subjects. I’m actually teaching to a higher level now.”

Increase Reading Comprehension, Effective Writing & Super Study Skills

Academic achievement is intimately linked to students’ ability to employ comprehension strategies as they read. It’s not enough to decode words automatically; students need to connect those words to meanings. F.A.S.T. Reading: Comprehension equips students—especially struggling learners—with the active comprehension and writing strategies they need to succeed in all subject areas. Students develop higher-level thinking processes and learn to synthesize information, employ effective writing techniques, and gain study skills that they will use for years to come.

You’ll move students from simple word recognition to reading-for-meaning with such proven strategies as visualization, perspective taking, vocabulary & figurative language, and metacognitive reading. As students learn how to engage more deeply and meaningfully with diverse texts, they become better equipped to ask—and answer—increasingly complex content questions.

By explicitly teaching students the F.A.S.T. research-validated, comprehension-enhancing approaches, you will:

  • Dramatically boost the comprehension levels of all students—especially struggling learners.
  • Assess and remediate the skill deficits that lead to poor comprehension.
  • Enable students to achieve clarity, precision, and consistency in their writing assignments.
  • Improve student ability to recall and retain content.
  • Address the special needs of students with nonverbal and other learning differences.
  • Increase cross-curricular achievement levels for all learners.
  • Meet national and state standards.
  • Raise student scores on standardized tests.
  • Truly prepare your students for academic pursuits and lifelong learning.
