A Multisensory, Effective Approach to Spelling

F.A.S.T. Spelling

Research supports explicit, systematic teaching of spelling as a critical element in your literacy block. F.A.S.T. Spelling--a multisensory, explicit program--uses phonetic and morphemic strategies so you can effectively teach spelling, including sound awareness, symbol imagery, letter patterns, and the importance of word meaning. F.A.S.T. Spelling also teaches children mnemonics for remembering irregular words.

The F.A.S.T. Spelling program draws on the latest research to:

  • provide direct applications of reading concepts
  • reinforce systematic phonics programs, including the F.A.S.T. Reading Program
  • help students transfer their spelling knowledge to their everyday writing
  • supply meaningful activities that develop children’s vocabulary

Additionally, the program demystifies spelling with morphemic strategies that teach students how a word’s meaning influences its spelling. Comprehensive and easy to use, F.A.S.T. Spelling will help you teach spelling patterns and concepts that will be powerful, lifelong tools for your students.

With the June, 2010 release of the Common Core State Standards, F.A.S.T. Learning has aligned all its programs to the standards, including F.A.S.T. Spelling.
